The delusion of coping

Our culture holds the idea of ‘coping’ in high regard, but coping is actually simply surviving, not thriving. The isolation of a ‘coping’ unit, like this swimmer, is not evident at first. She seems to be surfing that wave, but in reality, she is juuuust staying afloat in her handmade boat. She can’t wave for help, create anything or scratch any itch that might come up during the journey.
